US Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA/05) announced on Tuesday that she has filled the vacancy in her Walla Walla office. Victor Valerio will assume his new role on Monday, December 4, and will oversee the Walla Walla regional office and outreach efforts throughout Walla Walla, Columbia, Asotin, Garfield and Whitman Counties.
“I’m so excited to have Victor join our team so we can continue the great work that’s been happening in the southern part of Washington’s Fifth Congressional District,” Rep McMorris Rodgers said in a statement. “Victor’s unique life experience will be a great addition to our team and I look forward to him getting to work next week as a resource to people and groups in the Walla Walla Valley and beyond.”
Valerio is 26-years-old and was born in Mexico. His family immigrated to the United States in 2004 and settled in Milton-Freewater, OR. He is a 2009 graduate of McLoughlin High School in Milton-Freewater. Valerio became a US citizen in 2014, according to a press release. Valerio recently worked as a patient care coordinator for Providence Medical Group in Walla Walla.
According to McMorris Rodger’s office, Valerio will serve as a permanent staff member in the Walla Walla regional office (26 E. Main Street, Suite 2) “where he will provide direct support to people in the community who need assistance or want to have their voice heard.” He succeeds Cathy Schaeffer, who left the position earlier this year for a job with Baker Boyer Bank.
